To participate in the RN Refresher Program at Sura College, students must hold an active and unrestricted registered nurse license. Candidates with any license restrictions—including but not limited to disciplinary actions, monitoring agreements, or Board Orders—are not eligible for enrollment.
Applicants must:
Hold or be eligible for an active, inactive, lapsed, or re-issued RN license.
Have prior RN work experience or be a new graduate who has never practiced or an RN that would like a refresher on basic nursing skills and theory.
Have no restrictions on their license (no disciplinary actions or monitoring agreements).

Program starts every 15 weeks (accepting applicants all year round).
Online coursework and online lab checkoffs must be completed PRIOR to preceptorship experience (generally within the first 8-9 weeks). All at your own pace!
Clinical preceptorship (136 hours) follows successful completion of theory and lab.
Clinical Component:
To support your transition back into clinical practice, Sura College assists you in finding a preceptorship experience in a location that will best suit your needs for going back into practice. Sura College will work with a facility of your choice to get placement, but this is not guaranteed. If you have a facility that you would like to complete your preceptorship at, please email compliance@sura.edu and they will facilitate the agreement.

Program Overview

Yes, students can either request school-assisted placement or find their own preceptor. The preceptor must be a licensed RN in good standing and work in a setting that has a Clinical Experience Agreement (CEA) with Sura College.

Program Logistics
You must notify both your preceptor and faculty, and coordinate with your preceptor to reschedule. Unapproved hours may not count toward your 135-hour requirement.
Yes, each student is assigned a faculty liaison who will monitor your progress and assist throughout the preceptorship.
You and your preceptor will complete midpoint and final evaluations. You must earn at least a "Satisfactory" rating in all competencies to pass.
Post-Completion
Yes, you will receive a Certificate of Completion in Nursing Refresher and your completion will be verified with the Arizona State Board of Nursing.
